چکیده

In this paper we consider the one dimensional inhomogeneous wave equation with particular focus on its spectral asymptotic properties and its numerical resolution. In a first part of the paper we analyze the asymptotic nodal point distribution of high frequency eigenfunctions, which, in turn gives further information about the asymptotic behavior of eigenvalues and eigenfunctions. We then turn to the behavior of eigenfunctions in the high and low frequency limit. In the latter case we derive an homogenization limit whereas in the first we show that a sort of self-homogenization occurs at high frequencies. We also remark on the structure of the solution operator and its relation to desired properties of any numerical approximation. We subsequently shift our focus to the latter and present a Galerkin scheme based on a spectral integral representation of the propagator in combination with Gaussian quadrature in the spectral variable with a frequency-dependent measure. The proposed scheme yields accurate resolution of both high and low frequency components of the solution and as a result proves to be more accurate than available schemes at large time steps for both smooth and non-smooth speeds of propagation. Influences of Heterogeneities and Initial Stresses on the Propagation of Love-Type Waves in a Transversely Isotropic Layer Over an Inhomogeneous Half-Space

In the present paper, we are contemplating the influences of heterogeneities and pre-stresses on the propagation of Love-type waves in an initially stressed heterogeneous transversely isotropic layer of finite thickness lying over an inhomogeneous half space. The material constants and pre-stress have been taken as space dependent and arbitrary functions of depth in the respective media. To sim...

Plane Wave Propagation Through a Planer Slab

An approximation technique is considered for computing transmission and reflection coefficients for propagation of an elastic pulse through a planar slab of finite width. The propagation of elastic pulse through a planar slab is derived from first principles using straightforward time-dependent method. The paper ends with calculations of enhancement factor for the elastic plane wave and it is s...

کاربرد روش معادله سهموی در تحلیل مسائل انتشار امواج داخل ساختمان

With the rapid growth of indoor wireless communication systems, the need to accurately model radio wave propagation inside the building environments has increased. Many site-specific methods have been proposed for modeling indoor radio channels. Among these methods, the ray tracing algorithm and the finite-difference time domain (FDTD) method are the most popular ones. The ray tracing approach ...

Torsional wave propagation in 1D and two dimensional functionally graded rod

In this study, torsional wave propagation is investigated in a rod that are made of one and two dimensional functionally graded material. Firstly, the governing equations of the wave propagation in the functionally graded cylinder derived in polar coordinate. Secondly, finite difference method is used to discretize the equations. The Von Neumann stability approach is used to obtain the time ste...

Rheological Response and Validity of Viscoelastic Model Through Propagation of Harmonic Wave in Non-Homogeneous Viscoelastic Rods

This study is concerned to check the validity and applicability of a five parameter viscoelastic model for harmonic wave propagating in the non-homogeneous viscoelastic rods of varying density. The constitutive relation for five parameter model is first developed and validity of these relations is checked. The non-homogeneous viscoelastic rods are assumed to be initially unstressed and at rest....

Parallel computational algorithms for the numerical modeling of dynamic interactions of elastic blocks through thin elastic and viscoelastic interlayers in structurally inhomogeneous medium such as rock are developed. Monotonous grid-characteristic ENO-scheme with the balanced number of time steps in blocks and interlayers is used for the numerical solution. The algorithms are implemented in 1d...
